We began the day with interviews, which is basically all that we have going on this week & next. There are over 100 youth that have applied to the program, and we must interview each out individually to determine whether or not they are good candidates. After this interview, we will have a meeting and discuss all 120-ish, and decide on the roughly 60 that we will admit for Phase 1. Then, we get to interview the accepted youth again, and this interview will last about 40 minutes, as we will be getting their complete background/history. So far we have done these preliminary interviews individually, so that we all know the nuances of each person's personality (especially since the questions are vague, and facial expressions, mannerisms, and other such things that cannot be documented accurately tell as much as answers. We will have to split up next week, as there will be 2 psychologists working with us (this week we have had 1, on and off). Ferney & I (the only full time A Ganar employees) will each go with a psychologist and interview youth all day long. :)

I finally bought a hammock for the office, which means today I was able to have a nice siesta after lunch and before returning for an afternoon of work, as is normal here in Colombia, and especially Ibagué. :) Never mind that I read about a sustainable community in
los llanos, Colombia called Gaviotas (thanks Lauren!!!!) rather than sleeping...
