This morning I woke up early yet again, so I could meet Jorge, my boss, at the entrance to the botanical gardens of Ibagué at 7:00 for a hike up the mountain. Ibagué is home to the second largest botanical garden in Colombia, and it has the largest collection of a certain kind of plant in South America, but that is less than exciting when I don't remember/didn't understand the plant family in question...
We hiked for 2 hours through the garden and up the mountain to reach the highest lookout, only to be completely enveloped in cloud, with absolutely no view whatsoever. We were able to see the city only from the low viewpoint, which doesn't have such a dramatic impression. Oh well, no one can control the clouds, eh?
